About Constipation

Constipation is a condition in the digestive system wherein a person experience difficulty in bowel movement. For year, people have considered constipation as a disease, but it is not. It is just a symptom that something is missing in your diet, or you are not having ample amount of exercise.

Constipation means different thing to different people, medically it is defined as fewer than three stools per week or foe severe cases, one stool per week For some it just simply means infrequent stools. For others, however, constipation means hard stools or the feeling of incomplete emptying after a bowel movement. Constipation can also make you feel bloated and uncomfortable, and you may also find yourself straining during bowel movement.

Whatever the definition of constipation maybe for different people, but one thing is for sure; everybody is at risk of having it, and no one wants to talk about it. After all, it is very personal whatever is happening inside our body. Statistics have shown that 1 out of 6 people are suffering from constipation. When a person is constipated, often times, he/she feels sick. Some people would experience severe headache; others can have stomach ache, and some would feel lethargic when experiencing constipation.

 

What people don’t know about constipation is that Mother Nature already provided all the remedies readily for us to prevent constipation. It has already been proven that having a lot of fiber in our diet is one of the major keys to help keep things work properly in our body. Dietary fiber can be best seen in green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits, especially those with a lot of fluids. A diet low in fiber may play a role in constipation. Insoluble fiber, which passes our body almost unchanged, gives stools bulk and soft texture making it easier to pass. The recommended fiber in our body is obtained by a balanced diet, which includes, vegetables and fruits 50-60 percent, 30 percent protein and 20-30 percent fats.

 

Taking a lot of fluids such as water can greatly help people who are constipated. Fluids can make stools softer, thus, making it easier to pass. Watch also your intake of alcoholic drinks, caffeinated drinks and cola drinks, which can be dehydrating. Taking alcoholic drinks 2-3 glasses such as wine and beer can be beneficial for your health but too much of it can harm your colon.



Our lifestyle can also be one of the main reasons why we experience constipation. It is greatly known that a regular exercise is a major aid in preventing problems in defecation. It is best to know the best recommended fitness routine that suit’s your body needs. Regular meals, exercising regularly can help facilitate the bodies’ metabolism and increase stamina.



People should also learn about constipation that once it is taken for granted. It may result to a much greater complications in our body. Once ignored, constipation may lead to a condition called fecal incontinence or the inability of a person to control bowel movement. Other complications may also include hemorrhoid.



So, we should not mess with constipation. And so that we avoid the harmful effects of constipation, certainly better to prevent it as early as possible by taking care of our digestion as well as possible.
